Chi Chi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity

2017-2018 Accolades
 

Academics

  • 2016-2017 Daniel William Cooper award. Given to the Sigma Chi chapter with the best academic program.

  • Highest overall chapter GPA on Fraternity row for 12 of the last 14 semesters.

  • Only Fraternity that has maintained a GPA above 3.0 every semester for the last 6 years.

  • Spring 2016, the chapter earned a 3.23 GPA with 26 brothers on Dean’s List (3.5+), 11 more than any other fraternity.

  • Recent alumni are studying at the following graduate programs: Yale Law School, UAB Medical School, Vanderbilt Law School, University of Mississippi Medical School, Duke Law School, University of Alabama Law School, Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management, Tulane University Law School, and the University of South Alabama College of Medicine.

 

Campus Involvement

  • The Chapter has 2 brothers currently serving as Representatives on the Student Government Association.

  • The Chapter has 2 brothers currently serving on the Honor Council.

  • Currently active in each of the following organizations: SGA, Honor Council, Quest II, Relay for Life, IFC, Orientation Team, Order of Omega, RUF, Hilltop Hosts, Harrison Honors Program Advisory Committee, Stump Scholars Program, Alpha Epsilon Delta, Beta Beta Beta, Alpha Psi Omega, and Kappa Mu Epsilon.

 

Philanthropy

  • Our Spring 2017 Derby Days, our annual weeklong philanthropy project, raised $18,305.

  • Brothers also took part in numerous other philanthropic events throughout the year supporting the following charitable organizations: Children’s of Alabama, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Make-A-Wish of Alabama, First Light Women’s Shelter, the Arthritis Foundation, the American Cancer Society, etc.

 

Athletics

  • The Chapter has won the Men’s Intramural Sports Championship in each of the last 5 years.

  • Sigma Chi Brothers are active members of the following BSC athletic teams: Football, Baseball, Golf, Track and Field, Tennis, Lacrosse, Cross Country, and Basketball

 

Awards

  • The Chapter has won the Peterson Award (highest award given to only the best Undergraduate Chapters in Sigma Chi each year) For 10 years straight.

  • The Chapter has been recognized for academic excellence, philanthropic excellence, and for maintaining an excellent pledge program by Birmingham-Southern in recent years.

  • 2016-2017 Daniel William Cooper Award.

 

Alumni

  • The Chapter has well over 300 alumni whose professional careers are in areas as varied as finance, medicine, law, acting, accounting, music, hospitality, sales, marketing, insurance, engineering, software development, recruiting, education, supply chain management, real estate development, theology, etc.

  • Sigma Chi has over 300,000 alumni all over the world including John Wayne, David Letterman, Woody Hayes, Brad Pitt, Drew Brees, Tom Selleck, Mike Ditka, Adam Scott, Andy Rooney, Merlin Olsen, Woody Harrelson, Urban Meyer, Jim Caviezel, Sean Payton, Ty Burrell, Luke Donald, Luke Bryan, Eric Close, etc.
